Crude Palm Oil Futures Recover Slightly

Added 36 days ago - Crude palm oil (CPO) futures prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Bhd closed mixed yesterday, recovering marginally from Monday losses with some support from gains in soyoil futures prices, dealers said.

Thef its export tax on soya is expected to boost soyaoil sales from the country and further reduce prices, the dealers said.

Favourable exports data also helped to boost sentiment for the CPO futures market, they said.

Cargo surveryor Intertek Testing Services estimated that exports of Malaysian palm oil products for July 1-20 rose by 11.3 per cent to 834,317 tonnes as compared to the previous month.

At the end of trading yesterday, August 2008 gained RM10 to RM3,252 per tonne and September 2008 added RM14 to RM3,237 per tonne while October 2008 dropped RM8 to RM3,252 per tonne, November 2008 eased RM13 to RM3,249 per tonne and December 2008 went down RM1 to RM3,260 per tonne.

Turnover declined to 12,575 lots from 15,047 lots on Monday while open interest was lower at 56,733 contracts compared to 57,250 contracts previously.

As for the physical market, July South increased to RM3,300 per tonne from RM3,280 per tonne on Monday.
