Benso of Ghana First-Quarter Profit Triples on Higher Prices

Benso Oil Palm Plantation Ltd., a Ghanaian processor of palm oil, said first quarter profit more than tripled as prices for the commodity rose. Net income climbed to 1.4 million cedis ($1.39 million) in the three months through March 31, from 389,000 cedis a year earlier, according to a statement published by the Takoradi, Ghana-based company today in the Ghanaian Times. Revenue rose to 5.9 million cedis, from 3.2 million cedis.

“Our outlook for the first quarter has been good, and the company believes that this trend is likely to continue for the rest of the year,” the company said.

Benso is a unit of Unilever Ghana Ltd.
